After a busy week of Softball and the Mississinewa Prom, the Lady Indians are ready to get back to business tonight after last night’s cancellation. Last week Mississinewa went 3-2 playing 5 games in 5 nights. It all started Monday April 9th as the Lady Indians battled Lewis Cass. The Lady Indians would be down 3-0 early before battling back to make it 3-2. Lewis Cass then would score another run and that would be to much for Ole Miss, the Lady Indians would fall 4-3, Cierra Vasquez was on the mound allowing 4 hits 3 walks and striking out 3 batters. Meanwhile, offensively Senior Mallory Sands was 2-3 with an RBI, Sophomore Riley Mckee was 2-4 and Shelby Goble a Senior also went 2-4. On Tuesday night the Lady Indians would host Wabash and send Sophomore Jenna Berryhill to the mound, that would be very good news for the Indians Berryhill pitched a complete game shutout, allowing only 3 hits 4 walks and sat down 10 batters on strikes. Offensively Riley Mckee kept her bat going with a 4-4 performance with 3 RBI’s. Mallory Sands was 2-3 and Shelby Goble also contributed with a triple that drove in 3 runs, the Lady Indians defeated Wabash 6-0. Wednesday Night was a dog fight for the Indians traveling to Wes-Del. Wes-Del would jump out to an early 4-0 lead but the Lady Indians rallied back to score 3. Wes-Del would then score another 2 runs but that wasn’t enough to hold off the Lady Indians as they would rally back to come from behind and win 7-6. On Thursday evening in Gas City, Northfield would come to town to meet a very RED HOT Indian team. The Lady Indians won big over the Lady Norse 13-6. Jenna Berryhill pitched another outstanding game with 6 hits 2 walks and 11 strikeouts, giving her 21 strikeouts in 2 outings. The bats continued to be on fire with Sophomore Lexi Cruzan driving in 3 runs on a Triple to centerfield, she went 2-3 from the plate. Mallory Sands was 4-4 with a Homerun and 5 RBI’s, Senior Shelby Goble went 3-5 with a triple and an RBI. And then finally it was the last game of the week for the Lady Indians as they traveled to #2 Bellmont. The Lady Indians jumped out to a 2-0 lead and then the bats went ice cold. Bellmont rallied back to tie the game at 2-2 to send it to extra innings. The Lady Indians scored a run in the top of the 9th before Bellmont came back to tie the game on a miscommunication, and the sealing the deal with a walk-off single to right field winning the game 4-3. Tonight the Lady Indians travel to Kokomo Taylor for a 5pm first pitch.
