MHS Softball Gears Up For The Season

Story By: Dalton Bishop

Gas City- The Mississinewa Indians Softball team is scheduled to start their season tomorrow evening against Wapahani. Last season the Lady Indians went into Sectional 23 with no one in the state of Indiana expecting them to win. The Lady Indians led 1-0 at through 5 Innings of play. In the 6th it would be Shelby Goble with a solo home run over the Left Centerfield fence. In the bottom half of the Inning Heritage would rally to tie up the game at 2-2. Both teams would be knotted up at 2-2 until the 14th when Heritage would have a walkoff base hit to end the Lady Indians season at 8-14. This season the Lady Indians have huge goals for themselves, “As a team we would like to win all of our conference games, and then hopefully win sectionals” said Sophomore third baseman Lexi Cruzan. The Lady Indians struggled last season when falling behind other opponents, they would kind of give up on themselves, Cruzan felt that this is something they needed to fix for this season “when we get down we need to keep our heads up and keep fighting”. The Indians struggled to hit the ball last season and struggled to score runs. “We have really focused in on hitting in the offseason, we want to score a lot of runs this year” stated Cruzan. The Lady Indians defeated Wapahani last season 19-3. The Game is scheduled for 5pm. Stay Tuned to MCSC Athletics for more information regarding the scheduled game time due to expected weather.
