Boys High School Basketball- The third annual Marion Basketball Classic got underway this morning. Game number one featured the Liberty Christian Lions and the Indianapolis Northwest Space Pioneers. Indianapolis Northwest controlled the first quarter, leading 16-10 at the end of one. At the halftime break, the Lions drew within one point making it 30-29 at the half. The third quarter, was a much lower scoring quarter it was 40-37 at the end of the quarter Northwest still with the lead. The Final score had the Space Pioneers over the Lions 61-54. Indianapolis Northwest was led in scoring by 5’1″ Sophomore Keen Reed. Reed has 19 points on 7/13 shooting he connected on 5/10 3 pointers. For the Liberty Christian Lions, Joshua Tufts would be the only player in double figures with 18. Tufts was 6/13 shooting and 2/4 from 3 point range. Game 2- Would be the Lawrence Central Bears against the Lighthouse Lions. At the end of one quarter The Bears led 14-8. Second quarter things got ugly for the Lions, Senior Jonte Morgan was called for a technical foul and thirty seconds later called for a second and ejected from the ball game. There was a combined three technical fouls called on the Lions in the second quarter. At the halftime break it was all Lawrence Central leading 47-18. At the end of three quarters Central led 75-34. The Final score would be 89-50 Lawrence Central coming away with the win. 57 fouls were called in the game with 76 Free throws being attempted. Game 3- Featured the Indianapolis Tindley Tigers Vs. Fort Wayne Snider Panthers. This game is considered the best game of the day so far, FW Snider led Tindley 20-17 at the end of one. The second quarter it was all Tindley outscoring the Panther 21-9 in the second to lead at the half 38-29. In the third quarter the Panthers rallied back to outscore the Tigers 25-17 and trailed by one 55-54. The fourth quarter Tindley ran away to a victory 76-67. The Tigers were led by Purdue Boilermaker commit Eric Hunter Jr. with 43 Points on 15/22 shooting from the field and 5/8 from downtown. The Panthers were led by Dillon Duff with 15 on 6/9 shooting. Game 4- Gary Roosevelt Panthers Vs. Fort Wayne Dwenger Saints. At the half it is 20-5 Dwenger. FT Wayne held Gary Roosevelt scoreless in the second quarter. Game 5- Valparaiso will take on Fort Wayne North at approximately 7pm. Game 6- The Marion Giants will host Fort Wayne Wayne to end out the Marion Classic that game tips at approximately 8:30pm.
