Boys Basketball- The JV Grant 4 got underway last night in Gas City at Mississinewa High School. First the Mississinewa Indians and the Oak Hill Golden Eagles would take the hardwood. The Indians jumped all over the Golden Eagles 14-2 early in the first quarter. Leading the at the end of the first quarter 14-5. Oak Hill continued their 3-0 run to stretch it to a 7-0 run to make it a 14-9 ball game early second quarter. Golden Eagle coach Paige Brunner called a timeout. Out of the ensuing timeout the Golden Eagle defense was very stout, proving their point and holding the Indians to just three second quarter points. The Indians led 17-16 at the halftime break. In the 3rd quarter the Indians gave themselves a little separation leading 29-25 after three. In the 4th Oak Hill scored back to back buckets to make it 29-29, The Indians then went on a run to be up late in the game by 4. Oak Hill had the ball with 32.3 to play Landry Osman would pass the ball to Sophomore Tahj Johnson he would nail a three. Unfortunately, Coach Brunner had called a timeout before the ball had been released and the three would not count. Oak Hill miss the ensuing shot attempt causing them to foul and the Indians would go onto win and advance to the championship 40-35. Landen Swanner led the Indians with 11 points, Cade Campbell had 5 with a big shot late in the game. The Indians are on the road this evening for one final tune up before the Grant 4 Saturday. The Varsity Indians will play Eastbrook in game 2. The JV Indians play Madison Grant in the JV Championship game. The JV Indians defeated MG in their last meeting on Friday 71-31.
Girls Basketball- The Lady Indians took the hardwood after the JV team defeated Oak Hill 40-35. Now the Lady Indians wanted their turn at the Golden Eagles. The Lady Indians struggled early trailing 14-6 after one quarter of play. Early second quarter Jenna Berryhill would finally touch the ball and of course she would score and get the foul and connect on the free throw giving her three points. From that point forward it was all Lady Golden Eagles, they led 31-13 at the half. They would go onto win 54-35. The JV Championship features Oak Hill Vs. Madison Grant. Taylor Ulerick had 8 points, Jenna Berryhill and Laekyn Emmons had 7 a piece to make up the bulk of the scoring.
Wrestling- The Indians wrestling team traveled to MG for the Grant 4. Senior Jay Jones placed 3rd in his weight class. Sophomore Kyler Funk was the champion in his weight class, as a team the Indians placed 3rd.
