Mississinewa Lady Indian Basketball- When it comes to high school basketball there is two very exciting buckets: your first point and your one-thousandth career point. On Saturday Mississinewa Lady Indian Senior Erika Foy drove to that bucket and got the basket and the foul. On that bucket she scored her one-thousandth career point. She then hit the free throw attempt to score her 1,001 point. “It was an exciting feeling; it is a huge accomplishment for me personally” Foy stated. “I have to thank my coaches for pushing me to be a better player, and I have to thank my teammates for being the best teammates they can be.” The Lady Indians, Unfortunately fell to Oak Hill 78-32. The Lady Indians are on the road this Wednesday at Yorktown, before returning home for CIC competition against Madison Grant this Saturday.
Boys Hoops- On Friday the Mississinewa Indian Basketball team traveled to Oak Hill and was defeated 50-30. Jalen Martin and Thabit Gault scored 9 points each. The Indians struggled shooting the ball just 10/41 for 24% and 6/20 from the 3pt line for just 30%. They shot 7 free throws connecting on just 4 for 57%, they had 11 Turnovers and 20 rebounds. Meanwhile, Oak Hill was 17/36 shooting for 47% 1/9 from deep for 11%, and 15/21 from the free throw line for 71%. The Golden Eagles had 9 Turnovers and out rebounded the Indians by 1 with 21 rebounds. The Indians will return to practice today preparing for CIC opponent Madison Grant.
NBA- The Indiana Pacers continue there outstanding past couple of weeks defeating the Denver Nuggets last night 126-116 in overtime. Victor Oladipo scored a career high 47 points on 15/28 shooting. Oladipo looked at the crowd and said “This is my city” after hitting a big 3 point bucket in OT to give the Pacers a 10 point lead. Bankers Life Fieldhouse roared to life in the final minute of the game chanting “MVP” for Oladipo. “These fans are incredible. It’s like I never left,” Oladipo said. “In college it was the same way. It’s pretty awesome to play in front of them.” The Pacers welcome back Paul George and the OKC Thunder on Wednesday.
NFL- An outstanding season for the Philadelphia Eagles could possibly be down in the dumps now, QB Carson Wentz has a torn ACL in his left knee and will miss the remainder of the season. The Eagles have clinched a playoff berth. The Indianapolis Colts lost to the Buffalo Bills yesterday in Overtime 13-7, they played in “The Buffalo Blizzard.”
