The Lady Indians Season Comes To An End

DBStory By: Dalton Bishop

Tonight it was all on the line for the Lady Indians Survive and Advance. Tonight was game 1 of the sectional for Mississinewa at Norwell High School, The Lady Indians played the Heritage Lady Patriots. Erika Foy was on the mound tonight. The Lady Indians got on the board in the 3rd Inning on a Shelby Goble Solo Home Run over the Leftfield fence, giving the Lady Indians a 1-0 lead. In the 6th Inning the Patriots would rally for 2 runs and take a 2-1 lead, in the bottom half of the Inning the Lady Indians would tie the game up at 2. A Pitching duel took the game into the 12th Inning where a bases loaded fly ball with 1 out to Indian Centerfielder was caught, the runner from 3rd would tag Goble threw home and the Runner would be caught in a pickle where she would be tagged out by Lady Indian Erika Foy. The Lady Indians had a runner at 3rd with 2 outs in the bottom half of the Inning and would not capitalize. In the top of the 13th A 1 out flyball to Rightfielder Aubrey Tann would be caught the runner from 3rd would tag and this she would score giving the Lady Patriots a 3-2 lead. The Lady Indians went 1-2-3 to end the game and their season.

The Bus Ride Home

The bus ride home featured a few tears, a few laughs, and quite a bit of singing. When Senior Aubry Bennett got on the bus a few more tears formed from her teammates, and then the jokes and the stories began. The teamed laughed and joked for a good 20 minutes and then it was time for a little bit of karaoke. Freshmen Riley Mckee and Jenna Berryhill began a trend of singing songs and before to long the whole bus would began to sing. Songs from Wheels on the bus go round and round, to Queens Bohemian Rhapsody I would say The Lady Indians may not have “Crushed” the season or the sectional, but one thing they did “Crush” was the karaoke.

Comments From The Coach

Coach how do you look back on tonight? “In all of my years of coaching tonight may have been the most fun I have had as a coach” Miller said. “They just proved to themselves what they are capable of doing and so hopefully next year the come out play like this all year”. Coach I know it is hard to say goodbye to your Senior Aubry Bennett is their anything you would like to comment about her? “Aubry is a great kid, she set an example and approached each and every game the way every girl should”. “It is hard to say goodbye to her and we will miss her, I would like to wish her the best of luck in the future”.

A Final Goodbye

The hardest part of a season coming to an end is having to say goodbye to your Seniors. But tonight for the Mississinewa Lady Indians they only had to say goodbye to one Senior Aubry Bennett. Bennett has always had a positive impact on the team and no matter what the situation may be Bennett always stayed positive! So to Aubry from your team “Aubry thank you for being a great teammate and we love you and wish you the best of luck in the future.” Junior Erika Foy said “Aubry is a great teammate and she is always positive and had smile on her face”. Aubry Bennett is a class act of how positive you should be on and off the field and she was the best role model you could ask for and so from me “Aubry Jo I am proud of you and so are your coaches and teammates, we are all going to miss you”!

The top of the 1st inning for Alexandria was not so pretty, Freshman Jenna Berryhill struck the first two batters out, hit the 3rd and then struck out the 4th batter.  In the bottom half of the 1st a Tyler Bartel strikeout started the Lady Indians out with one out. But the lead wouldn’t be comfortable because here came the Flying Jets. In the bottom of the 6th the Flying Jets would tie the game at 5-5. In the bottom of the 7th the Flying Jets had the game winning run on 3rd with 1 out. A fly ball to right fielder Amaya David would be caught the runner tagged from 3rd but she would be thrown out at the plate to end the 7th inning tied at 5. In the Bottom half a double to the right centerfield gap with one out would set up another great opportunity for the Flying Jets. This time they would capitalize a ground ball that hit the 3rd base bag would go to the outfield which plated the runner from 2nd giving Adams Central a 6-5 win over the Lady Indians. In the 5th Inning Freshman Lexi Cruzan hit a liner in the right centerfield gap that plated Mallory Sands to give the Indians their first lead of the game and to score the first run of the game. Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 (SPOILER FREE) Review

Guardians of the Galaxy Vol.2 (GotG V.2) was extremely enjoyable it was hilarious and touching at the same time. Chris Pratt did a spectacular role as Star Lord maybe even acting better than he did in vol. 1. Even supporting characters immersed you into the movie including Yondu a character that caused issues in the first film. James Gunn really out did himself with this amazing film and it is a must see if you love movies that have an amazing story. My rating for this movie is a 5/5.

Lady Indians Score a Victory

DBStory By: Dalton Bishop

It was all Lady Indians Tonight as they defeated Daleville 14-1. Darcie Patton and Mallory Sands had back to back home runs in the 5th Inning. Darcie Patton was 4/4 with a HR and 4RBI’s, Mallory Sands was 2/3 with a HR and 2RBI’S, Leavitt, Foy, and Bennett were all 2/3.

3 Changeups 3 K’S

The bottom of the 5th inning saw a very rare and a very stellar pitching performance from Freshman Jenna Berryhill. This performance by Berryhill is very rare she came into the game with no varsity experience at all, despite that Berryhill Struck at the side and froze the first 2 batters and struck them out looking on a very very good changeup. The 3rd batter Berryhill struck her out on a changeup as well. The changeup was working for Berryhill tonight. I had the chance to talk to her after the game about her performance. “I was a little more nervous tonight then a normal night, I normally pitch JV and so I felt a little more nervous tonight pitching varsity” Berryhill said. “Now that i have one game out of the way the next game that i pitch in won’t be as nervous for me, I just acted as if i were pitching a JV game.” Screen Shot 2017-05-10 at 8.58.34 PM.png

Dirt Prevails!

DBStory By: Dalton Bishop

The Pride of Olive Branch, Mississippi and a guy by the name of Ricky Stenhouse Jr. picked up his first career NASCAR Monster Energy Series win yesterday afternoon at the famed Talladega SuperSpeedway. Stenhouse Jr. got his start racing at a young age racing Sprint Cars and Midgets, and on his free time he drives for The Clauson Marshall team in the 17BC Midget.Ricky

The History of Clauson Marshall

After the death of a very talented driver from Noblesville, Indiana (Bryan Clauson) Tim Clauson the father of Bryan knew that Bryan would want him to continue to go to the race track. So Tim and Richard Marshall the owner of Priority Aviation teamed up for the 2017 season to run some races and continue Bryan’s dreams, and Ricky happens to be one of their drivers on his free time.CMR

Stenhouse “Parks it”

The Roush Fenway driver finally got over the hump Sunday afternoon winning the Geico 500. Ricky Stenhouse Jr. Climbed from his Fifth Third Bank, Roush Fenway #17 machine with a big smile on his face. The first to greet him was Roush Fenway and then his Girlfriend and fellow competitor Danica Patrick. When asked what has been the biggest difference from this year to last year he said “This is for all the guys at the shop, we have been terrible for a longtime this year every race we are getting better and better”. “We knew that Talladega was a good race track for us, its been a good one in the past”. “Man I’m just glad we “Parked it” for my buddy Bryan Clauson he was with there on that last lap”! Stenhouse also won the pole the day before and donated that money in honor of Bryan Clauson to the Driven2SaveLives program and he talked about that. “He was one of my bestfriends and we lost him last year and he was an organ donor, And for him to save a lot of lives after he had passed it really opened our eyes to make sure we help push that message along and so everybody go to Driven2SaveLives and check it out its pretty cool”. “Its neat to see what Bryan has done off the race track since he’s not with us anymore he won A LOT on the track thats for sure and we are gonna go and try to “Park It” in victory lane today”. And Stenhouse did as he had hoped he “ParkedIt” for Bryan Clauson.
